You may think there’s not a lot to do in Butte Montana, but The Mother Lode Theatre has a great line-up this holiday season for anyone who enjoys the performing arts! Start off the holiday season with some great tunes from the Butte Center for the Performing Arts.
On Friday, October 28, at 7pm right before Halloween, Pinky and The Floyd, the Northwest’s Hottest Pink Floyd Tribute Band will perform in The Mother Lode Theatre. The band was formed in 2007, and is quickly selling out shows across the state. The live show is scripted and improvisational but it is the musical energy and stage presence of Pinky and The Floyd that really sells the show. Tickets are only $20, and $2 of every ticket goes to supporting the children’s theatre Orphan Girl.
On Tuesday, November 15, The Blues Brothers Re
vue will perform at 8pm. The story is of course well-known: brothers and paroled convicts Jake and Elwood Blues, played by John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd embark on a “mission from God.” They set out to save their childhood Catholic orphanage from the taxation department. Thirty years later, the Blues Brothers are a sensation, known for misadventure and a spectacular performance. The Blues Brothers Revue is the only Blue Brothers show officially approved by Dan Aykroyd and wife of the late John Belushi, Judith. Tickets are $29-$58.
On Thursday, November 17, 2011, Tommy Tune will perform a Broadway biography in song and dance. Tommy has won 9 Tony Awards and has performed for 50 years on the Great White Way. Playing back up to this amazing performance is the Manhattan Rhythm Kings. This is a musical not to be missed! Tickets are $35 to $65.
The Mother Lode was Theatre was built by the Butte Center for the Performing Arts after years of arts neglect in Butte, Montana. It is home to the Community Concert Association, Butte Symphony, Montana Reparatory Theatre, Missoula Children’s Theatre, San Diego Ballet Company and many other non-profit groups. The name comes from Butte’s mining heritage as the “Richest Hill on Earth.” Get tickets to these one-of-a-kind shows this season!
